Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about AMAF.
What does A.M. Africa Foundation do?
AMAF is a pan-African non-profit foundation that works to mobilise development finance, technical expertise and partnerships, so governments and communities can deliver essential infrastructure and services: water, energy, housing, healthcare, education, food security and economic opportunity.
Is AMAF a charity that distributes donations?
AMAF is more than a donation channel. Its focus is on preparing, financing and delivering development programmes with partners, and on making sure the resulting infrastructure and services keep working.
Is AMAF a non-profit?
Yes. AMAF is a non-profit foundation incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee without share capital, registered in Zanzibar under registration number Z0000210428.
Where is AMAF based and where does it work?
AMAF's head office is in Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania. Its programme scope covers East, Southern, West, Central and North Africa. Activities outside the head office region are areas of strategic interest unless a specific project is announced.
Are the 24 pillars and 20 initiatives already running?
No. The pillars describe AMAF's programme scope, and the initiatives are programme concepts that AMAF is developing with partners. Verified projects will be published in the Projects Directory with their status.
What is EPC+F?
EPC+F stands for Engineering, Procurement, Construction plus Financing. It packages project delivery and financing together, giving governments a single coordinated window for a project. Each EPC+F arrangement depends on feasibility, due diligence and partner approval.
Is AMAF a bank or lender?
No. AMAF does not lend money or provide regulated financial products. Where programmes involve finance for businesses or households, this is provided through appropriately licensed partners.
How can my organisation partner with AMAF?
