About AMAF
An African-led, pan-African development foundation, headquartered in Zanzibar and focused on the infrastructure and services that allow communities to thrive.
Who we are
A.M. Africa Foundation (AMAF) is a non-profit foundation incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee without share capital. It was established in 2024 and is headquartered in Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania.
AMAF exists to help mobilise development finance, technical expertise and strategic partnerships, so that governments and communities can design, deliver and sustain public-interest projects. Our scope spans water and energy, housing, healthcare, education, food systems, economic opportunity, climate resilience and the institutions that make development work.
More than donations
AMAF is not simply an organisation that distributes donations. Our purpose is to help bring together the planning, partnerships, financing and delivery needed to build lasting infrastructure and services, and to make sure they keep working after construction ends.
That is why our work is organised around six development systems and 24 programme pillars, connected through our signature Sustainable Community Model.
Kazi na Mungu
Our emblem carries the Swahili words Kazi na Mungu, "work and God": a reminder that development is built through dedicated work, guided by faith and values. The map of Africa, the raised hands and the wreath of wheat in our logo express our commitment to the whole continent, to its people, and to growth.
Where we stand today
AMAF is a young organisation. We are building partnerships, preparing programme concepts and strengthening our institutional systems. We are transparent about this stage: our programme pillars describe our scope and ambition, and our flagship initiatives are programme concepts open to partners. Verified projects will be published in our Projects Directory as they progress.
Let's build the foundations of a stronger Africa, together.
Governments, development financiers, companies, foundations and community organisations: tell us about your priorities and we will explore how AMAF can help.
